Ischnoderma resinous is a type of fungus that is part of a large family of fomitopsis.

Widespread throughout (North America, Asia, Europe), but not so common. In Our Country, it can be seen both in deciduous forests and in conifers, in taiga regions.

Resinous ishnoderma is a saprotroph. He likes to grow on fallen trees, on dead wood, stumps, especially preferring pine and spruce. Causes white rot. Annual.

Season: from the beginning of August to the end of October.

The fruiting bodies of Ischnoderma resinous are solitary, they can also be collected in groups. The shape is round, sessile, the base is descending.

The size of the fruiting bodies is up to about 20 centimeters, the thickness of the caps is up to 3-4 centimeters. Coloring – bronze, brown, red-brown, to the touch – velvety. In mature mushrooms, the body surface is smooth, with black zones. The edge of the caps is light, whitish, and can be curved in a wave.

During the period of active growth, resinous ishnoderma secretes drops of a brown or reddish liquid.

The hymenophore, like in many species of this family, is tubular, while its color depends on age. In young mushrooms, the color of the hymenophore is cream, and with age it begins to darken and becomes brown.

The pores are rounded and may be slightly angular. Spores are elliptical, smooth, colorless.

The pulp is juicy (in young mushrooms), white, then becomes fibrous, and the color changes to light brown.

Taste – neutral, smell – anise or vanilla.

The fabric is initially whitish, soft, juicy, then woody, light brown, with a slight anise smell (some authors characterize the smell as vanilla).

Ischnoderma resinous causes stem rot of fir. The rot is usually located in the butt, not higher than 1,5-2,5 meters in height. Rotting is very active, rot spreads quickly, which most often leads to windbreak.

The mushroom is inedible.
